Pricing Guidelines

Fees & Payments Policy

Fees may apply when using Cohart, including membership plans, payment processing, Marketplace commissions, shipping, and taxes.

This policy forms part of our Terms of Service. By creating a Cohart account, you agree to this policy and our Terms of Service.

Membership Plans

Creating a Cohart account is free.

Profile holders can choose to upgrade to a paid membership plan to unlock additional features, including Website Builder, Email Campaigns, Tap-to-Pay, lower payment processing rates, and expanded business tools.

Payment Processing Fees

Payment processing fees apply to transactions processed through Cohart and vary depending on your current membership plan.

Processing fees cover secure payment processing through Cohart Connect and Stripe.

You can view current processing rates on our Pricing page under your membership plan.

Marketplace Commission

A 20% Marketplace commission applies only to sales generated through Cohart Discover, where a collector discovers and purchases your artwork through the public marketplace.

This commission does not apply to direct sales made through:

  • Tap-to-Pay
  • QR code checkout
  • Custom invoices
  • Your Website
  • Your Link-in-Bio
  • Direct links to your Cohart listings

For these direct sales, only the applicable payment processing fee is charged.

Shipping Fees

For Ship by Cohart orders, shipping is calculated at checkout based on:

  • Packaged dimensions
  • Package weight
  • Delivery destination
  • Available carrier rates

The buyer pays the shipping cost during checkout.

Duties, Customs & Import Taxes

For international shipments, customs duties, import taxes, VAT, and other destination charges are not included at checkout unless otherwise stated.

These fees are determined by the destination country after they receive the artwork packae at their local customs center and, where applicable, are the responsibility of the buyer.

Sales Tax

For eligible U.S. transactions processed through Cohart, Cohart can automatically calculate, collect, and file applicable U.S. sales tax on the seller's behalf.

Sellers also have the option to manage sales tax themselves for supported sales processed through POS or invoices.

Income Taxes

Artists and galleries remain responsible for their own income tax obligations.

For sellers participating in Cohart Discover, Cohart may request the appropriate IRS tax form before marketplace payouts can be issued:

  • W-9 for U.S. sellers
  • W-8BEN (individuals) or W-8BEN-E (businesses) for international sellers

These forms are only required for Marketplace (Discover) sales and are not required for POS, Tap-to-Pay, QR checkout, or invoice sales.
